Join us for a walk with David McCheyne from the Rochester Area Mycological Association!
David McCheyne (He/Him) is a Citizen Mycologist and lifetime Western New York resident who's spent the last two decades studying (and not infrequently snacking from) the ecosystems of lower New England and volunteering with any research or conservation program that gets him outside. The last several years his studies have focused on mushroom taxonomy of the Order Boletales, but you can usually find him near the back of the walking group moving very slow or bent over a log taking a picture of something small and beautiful.
Do your rain prayers!
Its Already a stunning year and the April showers will indeed bring us May flowers and many more divine beings we can learn from and spend time with. We enter the class with intention for information so we gain more appreciation for our more than human ecosystem mates. Learn who lives right outside your door or a quick walk away. Together we use all our senses to engage with our living classroom. Touch bark, listen to bird songs and smell the flowers.
The exact location of the walk is revealed to registrants 2 days ahead of the walk - contact me directly about accessibility for this walk

As with many of our offerings, this class is sliding scale and a suggested offering of $30-50 is encouraged. We also offer and have opened the option for folks to “PAY IT FORWARD” and offer $100 to provide scholarship for those wanting to attend and might not have the means but still want to support the work and lesson.
We don’t turn anyone away for lack of funds and we welcome folks to pay what they can and no questions are asked.
Nor sure where you fall on the sliding scale spectrum? Check out the graphic below!

Come prepared to be in the weather and in nature.
Please no dogs unless they’re service or emotional support animals. Highly trained animal companions staying on the trails with us and not running after wildlife is a must.
