Join Olga Tzogas from Smugtown Mushrooms & Alex Dorr from Mushroom Revival for a full day, Outdoor Mushroom Cultivation class set and focused on urban or small farm production for hobby, permaculture and small scale commerical use.

This day will be an extensive glimpse into many facets of mushroom cultivation that can be grown in the garden, indoors, greenhouses and shaded urban or wood lots.  A lunch and beverages will be offered.

Workshop 10-4pm

10-10:15 - intros, welcome
10:15-11 - life cycle, ecological roles, human interaction with mushies, taxonomy/anatomy
11-12 - oysters (hands on making bags), setting up a small oyster farm, what to do with spent blocks (mycoremedition 101, vermi-mycocomposting, mycogardening/mulching) 
12-1 lunch yum yums
1-1:45 woodchips culture and garden beds
1:45-2:30 - log cultivation
2:30 - 3:15 - medicinals 101
3:15-3:45 - cooking
3:45-4 - closing wrap up the burrito

Bio of Alex Dorr

Alex Dorr is a Mycologist who graduated from Hampshire College with a bachelor's degree studying mycology with a focus on mycoremediation. He has dedicated the last four and a half years to learning as much as possible about fungi. Alex Dorr is the owner and founder of Mushroom Revival, an organic commercial Cordyceps militaris farm, education hub, and medicinal mushroom supplement company. (Mushroomrevival.com). Former lab manager, spawn producer and education coordinator for Fungi Ally, a mushroom hub located in Hadley MA. Currently working to help remediate old oil pits left by Texaco/Chevron in the Sucumbios region of Ecuador with the nonprofit 501c3 grassroots bioremediation organization, Corenewal. Alex received his commercial spawn production and cleanroom certifications from Aloha Medicinals, the world’s largest organic medicinal mushroom producer. Alex completed independent research with fungi in Ecuador, helped and consulted mushroom farmers in Mexico and Jamaica and built a mushroom lab in Jamaica in collaboration with Tradd Cotter from Mushroom Mountain to provide spawn for the island. He has also created many mushroom installations and taught dozens of workshops and has given lectures around Massachusetts, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York, Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Maryland, Texas and more! Travelling all around the world, teaching and growing mushrooms in countries like Mexico, Jamaica and Ecuador. Dedicated to the mission of using fungi to clean up the earth’s pollution
