In this workshop we will take a look into the roles mushrooms play within our lives, the forest and in food systems. Mushrooms and their underground network of cells called mycelium are the unsung heroes often missing from our studies, culture and horticulture practices. Learn the basics to mushroom biology, ecology and tips for recognizing them in the field. Explore different ways to grow them for food & medicine.
Exploring the many ways we can integrate Fungi into our systems,we will then begin to understand how we can incorporate them into growing methods for urban farmers and cultivators of all kinds. Then, by taking a hands on approach by making our own Oyster Mushroom starter kit to then take home and expand for future grows!
