Learn to cook mushrooms beyond just the classic white button or portobello! There is such diversity within the mushroom world that includes the different flavors and textures they naturally have. Mushrooms are loaded with proteins, fiber, and complex carbohydrates that nourish us from within.
We will learn to use mushrooms like Oysters, Shiitake, Lions Mane and King Trumpet! Each having their own flavor complex and qualities. Dont eat your mushrooms raw, they need to be cooked to obtain their nutritional and medicinal qualities and it goes beyond a simple sautee!
Join Olga for an evening of mushroom cooking and exploration within the mushroom kingdom!
Olga Tzogas created & operates Smugtown Mushrooms in Rochester NY.
Her journey with Fungi and plants started over ten years ago. Working with these allies by foraging in both urban & more wild settings, and developing skills to identify for food and medicine. In 2011, Smugtown Mushrooms was established because there was a need for mushrooms & growing supplies, workshops, events & community based science in her area. While continuously learning more and embracing the never-ending, unlocked potential of mushrooms & fungi. She teaches workshops throughout the region about wild mushroom identification, medicinal mushrooms, biology, and mushroom cultivation.
