We’ll go for a relaxed hike, while practicing paying attention to the goings-on around us; perceiving the forest through the eyes of two mycologists with different perspectives on the biological actors on the stage we call the forest.
We will meet at 10 AM at a trailhead (the exact meeting location of our hike will be sent to registered participants, but will be within a one-hour drive of Kingston, NY). Expect to spend around 4 hours in the woods.
Things to bring: Water, lunch, layered clothing (with an eye to the weather forecast), a camera if desired, a smartphone with the iNaturalist app installed, and a notebook if desired. Although foraging for edible mushrooms will not be our focus; collecting gear to keep other specimens in good shape for identification will come in handy. This icludes baskets, wax paper bags, tackleboxes.
Walk is open to registered participants only; sliding scale: $10–40. Higher-end donations allow us to offer lower-cost walks to other participants and are very much appreciated!
