Olga from Smugtown Mushrooms is popping up like a mushroom in Austin and for a special edition of the Mycelial Supper club at Angel’s house.
The evening will showcase different ways we love preparing mushrooms from a mediterranean, mostly Greek folk influenced menu. That means, fresh ingredients, olive oil and lots of herbs. We will talk about food, fungi and culture.
Our hidden joy and talent is that we LOVE cooking, and especially we love cooking for others and offering tasty, different ways to prepare and serve mushrooms.
This meal will consist of different plates of tastings, mezes (tapas), and other nourishing delights.
Olga Tzogas has been cooking her whole life, she is the daughter of Greek immigrants who still to this day run a diner in upstate New York, food has been a core part of her lived experience. Cooking mushrooms in different ways helps spice up basic recipes and lets us expand our abilities to feed ourselves and loved ones.
Expect this menu to feature mushrooms in every course offering and shared in ways you have never had them prepared. Sticking to her roots, of being born and raised in a Greek diner, expect the food to be cozy, filling and grounding with strong variations of classic dishes of freshness from her ancestral Greek + Balkan dishes.
Lot of our food this evening will be flame roasted and exposed to coals and fire.
This meal is served family style.
We will try our best to accommodate everyone's dietary needs. Respond with any restrictions.
Percentage of the proceeds from the dinner tickets goes towards supporting the New Moon Mycology Summit, a volunteer run, non-profit gathering for communal learning around environmental + social justice through the lens of fungi. The collective behind the organizing, are fueled by the passion for alternative spaces within mycology, ecological + societal justice and education. You will be supporting the future mycelial growth of the New Moon Mycology Summit.
